My name is Francesca Penn (born Francesca Villari). I am a dedicated registered nurse with a deep love for cooking, shaped by my rich cultural heritage. Born to a Haitian mother and an Italian father, I grew up immersed in two vibrant and distinct cultures, both of which played a central role in my upbringing. My passion for caregiving began early, inspired by my mother’s strength and resilience, as well as my father’s warmth and nurturing spirit. This led me to pursue a career in nursing, where I could combine my compassion for others with a desire to make a meaningful impact. As a registered nurse, I am known for my calm demeanor, exceptional patient care, and commitment to improving the well-being of those I serve. Outside of my demanding career, I am a chef at heart, mastering the art of cooking with effortless grace. I find solace and creativity in the kitchen. Every spare moment I get, I am creating something extraordinary in the kitchen, whipping up new recipes that would make gourmet chefs envious. I do not just cook, I “create”. My dishes are not merely meals; they are experiences. Somehow, despite juggling two jobs, I find time to bake/cook and experiment with flavors, constantly challenging myself. Cooking has always been a way for me to stay connected to my roots, blending the bold flavors of Haitian cuisine with the comforting, traditional dishes of Italy. From my mother’s spicy Haitian stews to my father’s handmade pasta, my cooking reflects a harmonious fusion of my heritage. For me, cooking is not just a hobby, it is a form of self-expression and a way to unwind after long shifts at the hospital. I enjoy experimenting with new recipes that merge the flavors of my two cultures, and I often share these creations with family, friends, and colleagues. My dream is to one day open a restaurant/catering hall where I can serve dishes inspired by both my Haitian and Italian background, offering a taste of my unique culinary perspective. Balancing my life as a nurse and a passionate home cook, embodies the spirit of nurturing both body and soul, whether at the bedside or behind the stove.
